[galib] PIKAIA

Hi,

currently I am working on porting an application from PIKAIA 
(http://www.hao.ucar.edu/Public/models/pikaia/pikaia.html) to GAlib, 
because the PIKAIA implentation is stable but very slow. Unfortunately I 
can't get it stable enough in reasonable time using GAlib, which I 
cannot understand, because PIKAIA is quite a simple implementation of a 
GA and it should easily be beaten by GAlib in terms of speed and stability.
Any suggestions about how to port a PIKAIA application to GAlib 
successfully? Thanks.
