Errors when using my own initializer

When I create my own initializer I seem to get the following error
message. It also happens when I try to run examples which have their own
initializer, eg ex8

GAStatistics::writeScores:
  error writing to file: 
  |CCCxE
  GAStatistics.C : 497
Segmentation Fault

Any suggestions?
