Dear Colleagues:

MIT and the U.S. Department of Energy have joined forces to increase the number of women in engaged in clean energy disciplines across the globe - and we need your help to acknowledge the accomplishments of outstanding individuals from the US who have made significant contributions to enhancing clean energy across a range of disciplines.

Under the auspices of the Clean Energy Ministerial -- a government-to-government ministerial level effort of 24 countries to enhance clean energy around the world -- the MIT Energy Initiative and DOE have partnered to implement a key program of the Ministerial, the http://web.mit.edu/mitei/c3e/index.html. Each of the nine countries participating in the C3E initiative -- Australia, Denmark, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States - is designing its own program to enhance professional opportunities for women in clean energy.

Working together, MITEI and DOE have developed a C3E program for the US with three major components centered on mentoring, information sharing and analysis, and recognition of accomplishment -

- A cohort of "Clean Energy Ambassadors" - accomplished women and men in clean energy fields who will spend a year mentoring younger women
- A symposium to highlight both key clean energy issues and women who help to solve them
- Recognition of outstanding work in the form of cash awards for:

·	Innovation and technology development
·	Entrepreneurship and innovative business models
·	Corporate implementation
·	Policy and advocacy
·	Advancements for the developing world
·	Education and mentorship

We are looking for nominees in these categories from across the country and across the range of clean energy disciplines - again, we need your help. We invite you to take a few minutes to nominate outstanding individuals who have made major contributions to clean energy in these areas.

I am attaching fact sheets on C3E and the C3E awards nomination process. Nominations can be made online at http://web.mit.edu/mitei/c3e/index.html. Awardees will be recognized at the Women in Clean Energy Symposium at MIT on September 28th. Please let us know if you have any questions (makender at mit.edu) and we hope you will join us in enhancing opportunities for outstanding women in clean energy. Thanks for your interest and again, the deadline for nominations is July 2nd.
