[E&E seminars] Invitation from Zayed Future Energy Prize

Dear MIT Community: Submit Your Nomination Today


You  have  been  invited  as a member of the MIT community to submit a
nomination for the Zayed Future Energy Prize.  Each year, candidates are
selected based on their achievements in deploying real world solutions to
our renewable and sustainable energy needs.  The 2008 inaugural winner, Mr.
Dipal  Barua, Managing Director of Grameen Shakti, was awarded for his
innovative approach to scaling renewable energy solutions for two million
residents of rural Bangladesh.  This year, we will recognise an individual
or an organisation for bringing the world closer to a sustainable future.

Winners receive a $1.5 million award and join a broad network of resources
to help them expand and scale their innovative accomplishments.  A panel of
jurors, representing champions in the fields of renewable energy and
sustainability, will screen finalists using the following criteria:

•    Innovation:  proof of cutting-edge concepts and solutions that solve
today’s energy and sustainability challenges.
•     Long-term  vision:   demonstration of ability to scale through a
commercially viable or sustainable business model.
•    Leadership:  championing the vision in order to advance clean energy
and sustainable solutions.

Consideration of candidates for the Zayed Future Energy Prize will continue
until October 16, 2009.  A celebration of the 2009 winner will be hosted in
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on January 19, 2010.
