Meeting notes from April 11, 2016

Thank you to Audrey Resutek, EECS communications officer, for talking about the approach to communications in her department. She’s doing great work to feature their students, faculty, and staff.

We are looking for presenters for the May and June meetings. Contact me if you’re interested in sharing what you’ve been working on or speaking about a relevant communications topic.

Century in Cambridge update
Rebecca Tyler brought posters, postcards and, yes, tattoos—and there’s more where that came from. Contact Rebecca (rjtyler at mit.edu<mailto:rjtyler at mit.edu>) or Rachael Weiner (rweiner at mit.edu<mailto:rweiner at mit.edu>) for supplies to promote the Open House on April 23 and Moving Day on May 7. They are very appreciative of everyone’s support in promoting these events. Rebecca notes a few other things:

- Open House and Moving Day are for MIT people to enjoy. Please bring friends and family.
- You can search, filter, and favorite 350+ activities on the Open House<http://mit2016.mit.edu/openhouse> website. Take note of the distinguished lecturers: Robert Langer, Eric Lander, Robert Merton, Nergis Mavalvala, Wolfgang Ketterle, Jeff Hoffman, Mark Jarzombek, and Maria Zuber.
- Moving Day commemorates our move from Boston to Cambridge in 1916. No registration is required—just come and have fun. The river crossing and pageant are do-not-miss events that are unlikely to be recreated anytime soon.
- New event information for Moving Day continues to be confirmed almost every day, so for promotion details, check with Rebecca and Rachael or visit the Moving Day<http://mit2016.mit.edu/movingday> website. Information on road closures will be available the last week of April; this will be announced as well, but it may be helpful to know it’s coming.

Social media presentation
There’s still time to register for Jenny Fowler’s presentation on Snapshot of Social Media Trends<http://commtoolkit.mit.edu/snapshot-of-social-media-trends> on April 26.

MIT Events Calendar
The Events Calendar will be getting an update. Stay tuned for a survey about desired features and functionality.
