>>Watch video about this year’s 2.007 Robot Competition<http://alumic.mit.edu/redirect.aspx?linkID=112657&eid=376655>
The day begins at 10am with the de Florez Award Competition, a showcase of student science and design projects. $20,000 in prizes will be awarded to MIT MechE students demonstrating outstanding ingenuity and creative judgment in mechanical engineering knowledge or practice.

The day continues with the first of our Inspiring Engineering Lecture Series at 4pm, featuring John Hennessey of Hennessey Performance, makers of the world’s fastest production car, the Venom GT, which reached 270.49 mph in a record-setting run.

We cap the day with the 2.007 Final Robot Competition, starting at 6:30pm. This year, student-built robots will “Hack to the Future" to compete on a course inspired by the popular movie Back to the Future. Students earn points when their robots open the DeLorean’s doors, throw bananas into Mr. Fusion to power the car, and save Doc Brown by helping him zip-line down the clock tower.

Robot Competition spectators will also enjoy perusing the adjacent Engineering Petting Zoo, featuring the Hennessey Venom GT, a Ferrari F1 race car, a real DeLorean, MIT’s Formula SAE race car, MechE student research projects, MechE Professor Sangbae Kim’s robotic cheetah, and more!

We hope you will join us for this celebration of mechanical engineering innovation!*
