Pre-Med Writer and Fellowships Advisor
MIT is seeking a Pre-Med Writer and Global Ed Advisor to be part of MIT Global Education & Career Development (GECD), a highly collaborative unit that helps students develop and implement their educational and career plans, participate in global experiences and develop global-ready graduates. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Prehealth Evaluation and to the Assistant Director for Distinguished Fellowships, this position works primarily with the Committee on Prehealth Advising (COPA) process, the Fulbright application process, and outreach for global education. Responsibilities include drafting faculty committee letters for approximately 120-150 applicants each year; managing the Fulbright Scholarship program application process, conducting information sessions, advising students on applications and drafting evaluations for final approval; managing outreach to student groups for both global education and prehealth and other writing duties.
REQUIRED: A bachelor's degree, (master's degree preferred) with an emphasis in english, writing, or communications. A minimum of one year of experience in writing, teaching, or editing required; excellent skills in writing and proofreading; proficient in developing creative, stimulating, personalized, and convincing letters; demonstrated ability to work well with faculty members and students; flexibility, detail orientation, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills; proven ability to meet frequent deadlines, and ability to assure accuracy of facts and quotes. Knowledge of the healthcare career field and medical and other health profession school application processes preferred; as is experience with prehealth advising, health-related or medical admissions programs, providing career or academic counseling, and supporting faculty committees.
