[Editors] Images of MIT in the world: mens et manus #etmundus

Dear MIT students, faculty, and staff:

Recently we began an experiment. We wanted to know: how do the people of MIT connect with the world? How do we learn and teach abroad? Where do we work, serve and invent?

To find the answer, GECD teamed up with our friends and partners at MISTI, UROP, D-Lab and the Public Service Center, and launched a campus-wide photo contest<http://bit.ly/etmundus>. We asked for pictures taken around the world by current students, faculty and staff to help us map MIT's many global connections.

You answered, and amazed us. So we started a Tumblr<http://mitglobal.tumblr.com/> to showcase the fantastic images coming in. Every week, my inbox receives stories too inspiring not to share. I'm convinced: together we're much more than 168 acres of Cambridge.

The contest continues through August; submissions close at midnight on Reg Day, Sept. 2nd. There's still a chance to tell your story, promote your department or cause, or showcase your camera skills. There's also still a chance to win a $250 Amazon gift card. Winners will be announced at the annual Go Global Fair<http://gecd.mit.edu/event/go-global-fair-1> on September 9th.
