I would like to formally announce the launch of MIT Connect. http://connect.mit.edu

MIT Connect is a new site to discover and engage with MIT through social networks such as Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Our vision is to help individuals explore MIT's many departments, labs, and centers via social networking sites as well as to encourage ongoing discovery of what MIT is talking about in the moment.

This site is a huge step forward for MIT and is innovative among our peer institutions: it encourages continuing discovery through features such as a list of related departments on each profile card, ability to search for a department by name or by an interest such as "entrepreneurship" or "sustainability," the header at the top showing the most recent content in MIT's social media communications, and the directory, which shows an ever-growing list of schools, departments, and programs.

Reap the benefits!
Use this site to showcase your department and help others discover your social media presence and connect easily with you:

  * Add a link to your email signature. Each department has its own profile. Example: Alumni Association<http://connect.mit.edu/alumni-association>.
  * Tweet a link to your profile or just retweet @MITnews<https://twitter.com/MITnews/status/255742210283290624>.
  * Link to all your social accounts from your website with just one click.
  * Add your profile link to your Twitter bio, Facebook about section, etc.

Where is my department/lab/center?
This site features departments, labs, and centers with social media accounts that follow MIT's social media guidelines<http://web.mit.edu/graphicidentity/socialmedia/>. We are continuing to improve the site. If you believe your department should be featured, please email connect at mit.edu<mailto:connect at mit.edu>.

Acknowledgements
This project was a collaboration between Communication Production Services and the News Office. Providing advice and guidance were including Anna Babbi Klein representing campus life, Maggy Bruzelius and Nancy DuVergne Smith representing alumni, Patrick Gillooly from the News Office, Brent Turner from Tech Review, Chris Peterson from Admissions, Danyel Barnard from the President's Office, the Social Media Working Group, and the Communication Production Services<http://web.mit.edu/cps> team.

I am excited to see what visibility MIT Connect brings to MIT's departments and programs.
