I’m at OpenCourseWare and we are beginning a project with the Energy Education group here on campus. You may have heard that there is a new Energy Studies minor that is in process of being rolled out. Faculty from a number of departments are involved and governance is more complicated than typical academic curriculum. We’re beginning work with the Energy Education office to build an OCW portal for Energy Studies. One thing that became clear during our discussion (with Amanda Graham and Don Lessard) is that there is not a clearly articulated vision yet for how they want to talk about energy education at MIT. Don has his own vision of how to talk about this but it is not very clear and it’s not written down and it is certainly not widely shared at this point. So, the faculty have approved a set of courses but they don’t really have the vision or talking points together.

This makes it tough for us to even begin thinking about a web site that describes it. I recommended to them that they contract for a communications professional who has expertise in doing such things and who has experience working with a group of stakeholders and facilitating the process. They thought that was a great idea.

So, to my question: do you have any suggestions for people you know who might be good at this and who would be available on contract sometime in near future? I offered to try to find them some possible people….
