[Editors] Editors: faculty and staff with "double" professional lives?

Good morning,

My name is Teresa Herbert--I'm starting my third month here at MIT in  
the News Office and I am a colleague of Elizabeth Thomson's and Greg  
Frost's.

We're kicking around a story idea about faculty and staff with  
"double" professional lives that I'm hoping you might be able to help  
us out on.

A few weeks ago I met Dick Fenner from the Department of Mechanical  
Engineering. He was filling me in on the 2.007 robot competition and  
he also mentioned that he uses his mechanical engineering expertise to  
help out at one of the hospitals in the Longwood Medical Area--he  
consults on the engineering and design of artificial heart valves/ hip  
sockets, etc.

That got us thinking--who else at MIT uses their traditional expertise  
in non-traditional settings?

Appreciate any suggestions you have from your respective areas.
