Wow Tom, that's a great price for that camera. Does that include a
lens also?
I have a Canon Rebel here at work and a Canon 20D at home. Both are
great cameras except for one thing- when changing lens I got dust on
the sensor which is a major pain (it cause spots on your picture).
This is a problem with many digital SLR's but I've read that the new
ones have something that shakes the dust off. If I knew then what I
know now I would have used a changing bag when switching lens to avoid
dust.
At any rate I just recently purchased a Canon G9. It has a fixed zoom
lens (very good range), raw files and can take images up to 12
megapixels. It also can use an external flash. While the image quality
isn't quite as good as my SLR's, it's still pretty great and it only
cost $450. It is also extremely compact and portable and you don't
have to worry about the dust on the sensor problem at all. As you can
tell I think this is a great camera for the money- very user friendly.
It also takes mini-movies (not very high quality, however). I do wish
it had more depth of field (it only goes up to F8)
It all depends on how serious a camera you need for your uses.
Good luck!
Judy
