Dear colleagues,
As you may know, the Publishing Services Bureau maintains a library
of images that are available to the MIT community for use in print
and web publications. We are currently undertaking an expansion of
the library, which is available at http://web.mit.edu/psb/photographs/
index.html
In order to create a photo collection that is most useful to the MIT
community, we're asking for your input in compiling a list of desired
images. Please take a moment and email us your suggestions. Be as
specific or general as you wish; i.e., you might want a shot of a
particular building, or perhaps photos of student / faculty engagement.
Please provide your suggestions to Cheryl Slowik at cslowik at mit.edu
by Friday, November 2. Once we gather your input, we will hire a
photographer and plan photos shoots during the year to update the
image library.
In addition to your open suggestions, please respond to a few
specific questions to help us plan for the growth of the collection:
1. What types of photos do you most often use in your publications?
(content and tone)
2. What images would like to have available, but currently cannot find?
3. Do you have images that could be submitted for use in a campus-
wide image library?
4. Do you know of other image collections we should consider for
inclusion in the image library? (We will contact the specific
departments to ask about including some of their photos in our public
resource, taking usage rights agreements into consideration.)
5. Would you use MIT sports images if we added them to the library?
6. Do you currently use stock photos? If so, how much do you pay per
image and what sources do you use?
7. Please recommend photographers we should consider working with for
new photo shoots.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Best regards,
Monica
