[Editors] quick question

I find the same thing - varies due to many factors - those Sandy
wrote plus the experience level of the editor. And, sometimes I pay
by the job - sometimes by the hour. I asked my wife, who is an editor
with Houghton Mifflin - they sometimes hire freelancers to supplement
staff. She was wary about giving a number as they pay per project and
it often vaires but she says it's typically about $25-$30 an hour. If
the work is highly technical and requires special skills beyond
normal style/grammar, etc, it may go to $40.
And the answer to the second question, "And does it depend on the
length?" Yes- taller editors command higher pay than short ones.
