The winner of the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize, Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, will deliver this year's David J. Rose Lecture on Nuclear Technology at MIT.  Dr. ElBaradei will explore the role of nuclear technology in supporting the ever-growing energy needs of modern society as well as the risks posed by nuclear proliferation and the threat of nuclear terrorism.

Dr. ElBaradei is the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency and was recognized by the Nobel Committee for his commitment to ensuring nuclear technology is used in peaceful, non-military applications.

WHAT: "Nuclear Technology in a Changing World: Have we Reached a Turning Point?"- a lecture by Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, sponsored by MIT's Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering and the Alpha Nu SIgma Honor Society of MIT.

Discussion will focus on several topics including:
	* What challenges are inherent in expanding the use of nuclear power?
	* What role does technology play in verifying nuclear materials are not used as weapons?
	* How can nuclear technology protect against threats from terrorists?
	* How can innovations in nuclear technology help address global energy needs?
