The Center for Real Estate is looking for some
help. The job description is included here both
as part of this message and as an attachment.

Director of External Communications
The Center for Real Estate wishes to establish a
relationship with a consultant who will act as
the Center's Director of External Communications.
This person will work with the Center's staff and
faculty to convey essential information in a
timely and upbeat fashion to our constituents -
the real estate industry, the Center's students
and alumni/ae, and the larger MIT community.
This position will require 15 to 20 hours of work
per week on site; office space will be provided.
The position will encompass the following tasks:
Managing the information architecture of the
Center's web site, including establishing and/or
reinforcing guidelines for where and how
materials are placed on the web site
(web.mit.edu/cre)
Preparing text for the Center's website
o Preparing new text where appropriate
o Reviewing existing text and updating, editing, and/or correcting as needed
Producing the Center's periodic electronic and
hardcopy newsletters for alumni/ae and industry
partners
Preparing articles on the Center's various
activities - Forums on Innovations and Issues in
Real Estate, Alumni/ae Reunion Weekends, research
conferences, etc.
Producing the Center's quarterly submission to
the New England Real Estate Journal
Reviewing copy for all advertisements
Producing, editing, and/or updating text for
the Center's marketing materials, e.g., brochures
and folders, Professional Development Course
brochure.
Working with the Center to produce seasonal
materials, e.g., State of the Center, Reports to
the President of MIT, fall solicitation letter,
and bulk-mailed business communications such as
invitations
Organizing and managing the Center's large Publications Inventory
With the approval of the Center's Administrative
Officer, some of these tasks, such as the
production of event-related articles, may be
sub-contracted out to others.
The Center for Real Estate (CRE) was founded in
1983. Our mission is to improve the quality of
the built environment and the real estate
industry by providing a forum for education,
research, and the exchange of ideas between MIT
and the global thought leaders of the real estate
industry. We do this with:
A specialized, globally recognized, one-year
Master of Science in Real Estate Development
(MSRED) program that emphasizes the creation,
operation and management of the physical product
of real estate.
An unique interdisciplinary research platform
that brings together academia and industry to
address critical areas of real estate knowledge
and decision making.
Outreach that connects MIT with the real estate
industry and CRE alumni to develop the profession
and to support the Center's long-term growth.
