Hi Wenlan,

Using the files from PO.DAAC is recommended. The actual data content, such as OBP fields you’re interested in, is the same between the files on PO.DAAC and those on ECCO Drive, but the netCDF files on PO.DAAC feature improved, more detailed metadata and are better organized.

Best regards,
Ou Wang

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [ecco-support] Questions about differences between datasets in PO.DAAC and ECCO Drive

Hi, support group,

I hope this message finds you well. I am interested in using the ECCO v4r4 data, I was hoping you might be able to offer some guidance.
I know that ECCO has datasets on PO.DAAC(https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/ECCO?tab=mission-objectives&sections=about%2Bdata<https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/ECCO?tab=mission-objectives&sections=about+data>) and in the ECCO Drive Web Interface (https://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/drive/files/Version4/Release4/ ), but the data names and directory organization are quite different from those. I was wondering if there are any differences in the data downloaded from these two different locations, especially the OBP data I'm interested in.

Thank you for your kindly help!

Regards,
Wenlan
