[ecco-support] Doubt about eastward and northward ocean velocities in ECCO-V4

The east and north velocities are EVEL<ftp://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/Version4/Release3/nctiles_monthly/EVEL/> and NVEL<ftp://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/Version4/Release3/nctiles_monthly/NVEL/> in ftp://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/Version4/Release3/nctiles_monthly/. Also note that in the same directory, UVEL<ftp://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/Version4/Release3/nctiles_monthly/UVEL/> and VVEL<ftp://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/Version4/Release3/nctiles_monthly/VVEL/> are velocity components along the model’s x- and y-directions, respectively, which are not necessarily east and north.

Subject: [ecco-support] Doubt about eastward and northward ocean velocities in ECCO-V4

Dear all,

I want to download the eastward sea water velocity (U) and the northward sea water velocity (V) from ECCO-V4. But in the Readme file a just found the variables _VELSTAR and _VELMASS. Are the variables U and V available in another place?

Thank you.

Best regards.

Leilane
