[ecco-support] Monthly means of daily data?

Re creating monthlly averages from daily data (such as sladiff*.data): I
would like to be consistent with the averaging method that is used in
creating other release3/h8_i48/ monthly averaged model o/p

(such as barfiles/misfit_theta.data or THETA in
diags/STATE/state_3d_set1.*.data)

What method is used to create those monthly means - real monthly means
based on calendar months? or monthly means based on equal length "months"
such as 30.5 days? or other?

Thanks,
Diana
