[Dspace-general] Week 5: Submission process

Hi Dorothea! (copy to the General list)
My 2 cents on submission:
1) Submission should be named Contribution (more positive, more Web 2
minded!)
2) Librarians do not understand why record update should be different
from submission! They would appreciate to be "helped" (menus,
validations) when updating the same way contributors are helped during
submission. (Current update form can be retained for more extraordinary
updates)
3) Submission is not multilingual now (I had to modify it locally in
depth for this): some fields (like title) must be entered in multiple
languages in Quebec, Belgium, etc.
4) Dynamic Authority lists are essentials (collections, subjects,
authors, etc.): this mean some way to manage authority lists is needed.
I am working on this by using dedicated collections for each Authority
list we have to manage. The trick is to store only the handle of the
linked item (entry in the authority list) but to index and display the
dc.titles of the linked item (the name of the subject, authors, etc. and
its synonyms: dc.title.alternative)
Have a nice day!
Christophe
