[Dspace-general] Repository Developer vacancy

A vacancy exists for a Software Engineer: Repository Developer ( fixed

term for 24 months):

The role will be to develop, support and maintain a DSpace repository
for research data outputs as part of the DataShare JISC-funded
project. The repository developer will also contribute to exploring  
data publication tools and 'mash-ups' on the web.

The successful applicant will be a graduate, ideally in a computing  
related discipline, with relevant work experience or equivalent.  
He/she will have sound
experience of working with open source software in a UNIX environment,
expertise in Java, XML and related technologies, and databases as well
as flexibility, initiative and good problem solving skills.

EDINA is a UK National Data Centre (http://edina.ed.ac.uk/).  Based at
Edinburgh University Data Library, it is funded by the Joint
Information Systems Committee (JISC) of the higher education funding
councils, and forms part of the 'virtual library' for staff and
students in UK higher education.

The Data Library provides Edinburgh University staff and students with
access to research data for analysis and teaching - including
statistical sources, survey datasets, mapping and documentary films.
The DataShare project, led by the Data Library, involves collaboration
with Information Services staff at the University of Edinburgh as well
as at three other project partner sites.
