The University of Cambridge's institutional data and document repository 
system uses DSpace, a complex Java application running on 
Tomcat/PostgreSQL. We are looking for an experienced software 
analyst/developer to maintain and develop this system and its client 
tools to ensure that it continues to provide for the needs of the 
University and deliver appropriately enhanced functionality for the future.

Candidates must have considerable experience of object-oriented software 
development, preferably with Java Web and SQL database applications in a 
Unix/Linux environment, and must be self-motivated and capable of 
prioritising their own work. They must have experience in managing 
complex software development projects, preferably in an open source 
context, and must have excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting 
skills. The candidate will also be expected to be capable of presenting 
their work to a wider national and international audience and must be a 
good communicator and collaborator.

This is a fixed-term appointment for 5 years at Computer Officer Grade 
8, subject to a nine months satisfactory probation period, on a salary 
scale of £30,012-£40,335 with initial salary depending on experience.
