hi Glaudia, 
  i tried several times the "Password forgotten" function but it hasn't worked. I keep getting the message that an internal error has occured. So , i checked  the  C:\DSpace\log file in order to diagnose the problem:

  The parameters in my config file are :

  i' m working with that locally on  a test/development system.maybe the mistake could possibly  be  that i didn' t use 2 placeholders in the names in the config files?could you suggest the name of the mail.server etc in that case?

there is the "Password forgotten" function, you should use this.
Got to MyDSpace and in the login page you see "Have you forgotten your 
password?" use this to change your password. It works for any registered 
DSpace User.
