Dear friends

Thank you so much for your outpouring of support for the Fuyang AIDS Orphan
Salvation Association. You have pledged over $800 so far! These funds will
go directly to support children affected by the disease in rural Anhui and
Henan provinces.

Because of your incredible generosity, I have already exceeded my goal of
$500 for this fundraiser. However, according to the People's Daily
newspaper ( http://english.people.com.cn/200702/27/eng20070227_352611.html),
there are currently over 76,000 AIDS orphans in China. There are still
many, many more children in Anhui and Henan who need help than AOS is
currently able to provide, so any more funds you give mean that more
children will received care. In addition, it is likely that every dollar
you give will be matched by an institutional donor working with AOS. For
more details, please see the message below from Ms. Eliza Petrow who is
organizing the larger fundraising drive here in Cambridge. To learn more
about HIV in China and the AOS program, please see Eliza's excellent
presentation at (http://web.mit.edu/jialanw/www/ruralchina.htm).

Help me achieve my new goal of raising $1200 by April 15th for this worthy
cause. You may give me cash directly (if local), or you may send your check
directly to me for *Alliance** for Children Foundation**,*with reference to*
**AIDS Orphan Salvation Fund. *

For local Cambridge residents, please consider attending the fundraiser this
Thursday which includes a viewing of the Oscar-winning documentary "The
Blood of Yingzhou District"
(http://www.allforchildren.org/events.html). Please
forward this email to anyone you think would be interested in learning more
about HIV in China.****

Please provide your address so that a proof of donation may be sent to you
for tax purposes.

My address is

Jialan Wang
60 Wadsworth St Apt 8H
Cambridge, MA 02142

You may also donate directly to AOS online at

Again, thank you!

Jialan

There is no exact goal since the needs of the organization are enormous- if
we raise more money we can help more kids- if we less money we will help
fewer kids and will target the most critical. I think that I would like to
raise between $20,000 and $40,000 so that we can continue the current
program and expand it to the next county where there are so many kids
waiting to be helped and many HIV+ kids as well. There are also some more
kids waiting to be helped over the border in Henan province (we are
currently helping some there already). I think I found a company that will
match dollar for dollar what we raise so in that sense I think it is
possible to raise that much. But whatever we do will be great because we can
have a huge impact!

See you the 8th!

Eliza

*Hello all,

I attended a workshop on AIDS in China last weekend, and the story of the
AIDS Orphan Salvation Association was incredibly moving and inspiring.
Featured in last year's Oscar-winning short documentary "The Blood of
Yingzhou District", the organization was started by a local woman to help
one girl with AIDS who had lost her parents to the disease and had literally
no one to turn to. Now the organization helps over 500 orphaned children
get health care, go to school, find adoptive families, and overcome the
incredible social stigma of HIV/AIDS. I was really impressed by the
organization's efficiency and focus on effective intervention and
broad-based support, not just giving food and monetary aid. AOS is working
with the local government and is nearly self-sufficient, but it still needs
additional donations to build the organizational capacity to expand and help
the estimated 1000 AIDS orphans in the local Anhui and Henan provinces. In
particular, much of these donations would go toward paying health care
workers to make sure the children with the disease get proper treatment.
The program has improved care dramatically, achieving over 95% treatment
compliance for often-complicated treatment plans in rural communities far
away from hospitals.
