Thanks for pointing out those issues, and for the patches (and sorry for
the slow response).  Some comments inline below.

For the docs, I ended up making and pushing the opposite change, i.e.,
using /catsoop everywhere instead of /cat-soop.

Ah, good call.  That was indeed overly hard-coded.  I'm going to make a
couple of little tweaks to the wording, but I'll go ahead and put this
in, too.

I think we should drop 3.8, and probably also 3.9.  3.8 reaches its EOL
a few months from now, and I don't think it's worth trying to support it
unless there's a compelling reason to.  I think all of the major
distributions have moved on to at least 3.10 if not 3.11, so that's
probably safe.  Are you still running 3.8 anywhere?
