Dear biology community,
We are all aware of the violence that erupted in Israel and Gaza over the weekend and the graphic coverage of atrocities in the news. This is upsetting to everyone, and these events are deeply personal and particularly stressful for those who have connections in the region. Please remember that your coworkers, lab members, and students may be impacted in ways that are not immediately apparent; they need your understanding and support.
If ongoing events are interfering with your ability to work or study, or your wellbeing, please talk to someone. There are many at MIT who are available and want to help in times of stress or crisis. If you are unsure where to turn for help, Hallie Dowling-Huppert, the HR staff in your building/unit, the BioREFS, GradSupport, or staff at MIT Mental Health can talk with you and connect you with resources (contact information is at https://biology.mit.edu/get-help/). You can also talk with your supervisor/thesis advisor if your life/work is affected by ongoing events.
My thoughts are with all who are affected by this gruesome conflict.
Amy
