Subject: Internship Opportunity in Climate Tech
--
About us: Solugen<https://solugen.com/> is a Series C climate company that is using biology and chemistry to produce carbon neutral and carbon negative chemicals. Carbon Explorations is a subsidiary dedicated to Carbon Dioxide Removal — pulling CO2 out of the atmosphere and storing it securely forever, which is critical to mitigating the most harmful effects of climate change.

The role: This intern will be the third hire to join our nascent team – you will be working hand in hand with the VP and Director of Carbon Solutions to hit key R&D milestones critical to building the business. You will get to experience the fast-paced research and business environment for an early stage company, and will be managing a dynamic mix of responsibilities both in and out of the lab. In addition, you will be learning from and exposed to the large mix of scientists working together at Solugen, ranging from enzymologists, polymer scientists, chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, analytics teams, and much more. The internship will be located in Houston.

What we are looking for:
· Freshman through Juniors, ideally majoring in a discipline with a heavy chemistry or biology focus, e.g. Courses 2, 3, 5, 6-7, 7, 10, or 20
· Research experience in the lab (e.g. through a UROP, class, or internship)
· Comfort with core chemistry concepts, for example acids & base titrations and buffers, endo/exothermic reactions, and phase diagrams
· Comfort with communication and work management platforms such as Dropbox, Google Docs, MS Office, and Slack
· Crisp written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
· Self-motivated and proactive in an ambiguous environment
· Curiosity and a thirst to learn
Please contact Anika (anika.gupta at solugen.com<mailto:anika.gupta at solugen.com>) for more information.
