Subject: Watch the MIT Research Slam Showcase!
Good morning! I hope you had a fantastic weekend and are enjoying the warm spring weather. The MIT Research Slam I previously emailed you about is now headed for its summative showcase event, and so I was wondering if you could help me one last time by spreading the word in Biology? If so, I would be delighted if you could share the following blurb and the attached flyer widely across the department (e.g. undergrads, grads, postdocs, faculty, staff - all are welcome!). As always, I really appreciate the help, and please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have questions. Thank you!
Come hear about fascinating research at MIT from excellent science communicators at MIT’s first Research Slam Showcase! Join us<https://mit.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_hI6g1uIxQh6xAWchqpkV1w> on Monday, March 29th from 5:00 - 6:30 PM EST to hear MIT graduate students & postdoctoral scholars explain their research in 3 minutes or less. Talks will cover a wide range of topics from immunoengineering to fight cancer to using small spacecraft to explore the oceans, and they will be judged by an expert panel of judges – including Ashley Smart from the Knight Science Journalism Program, Liz Neeley from The Story Collider, and Kate Stoll from the MIT Washington Office – as well as by YOU, the audience.
The 90-minute program will include live viewing of talks submitted by participants, evaluation & feedback from judges, audience voting, and a declaration of winners & prizes. Attendees can join in the fun by asking questions to participants, leaving comments, and voting for the audience-choice awards. So, come join us for a celebration of innovative research and clear communication at MIT and support your colleagues & peers by helping us choose winners!
The Slam Showcase is free and open to everybody and anybody, so please share with your friends & family. You can find more information at researchslam.mit.edu<http://researchslam.mit.edu/home>, and please don’t hesitate to contact us at research-slam at mit.edu<mailto:research-slam at mit.edu> with any questions!
Register to attend at: https://mit.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_hI6g1uIxQh6xAWchqpkV1w. Thank you, and have a beautiful & sunny day!
