Dear Colleagues,
I’m writing to call your attention to the exciting line-up of upcoming offerings during IAP. This year, the virtual format has allowed us to assemble an exciting array of speakers from all over the country. A full list of events can be found at: https://biology.mit.edu/about/iap.
This week, the series launches with three events. Please attend if you are interested and share with colleagues.
Seminar Series:
Tuesday, January 5th, 4:00–5:00pm EST the series Immunity from Principles to Practice launches with a seminar from Gabriel Victora (Rockefeller University) who will present on "Clonal Dynamics of the Antibody Response.” Gabriel’s exciting work explores the fundamental principles of antibody generation—a topic of particular interest as vaccines against SARS CoV-2 are being rolled out worldwide. https://mit.zoom.us/j/97856784053 password: MITBiology
Panel Discussions Series:
Tuesday, January 5th, 2:00–3:30pm EST the series Alternate Careers in Biology launches with "Exploring a Career Path in Biotech and Biopharma," hosted by Fiona Aguilar. Florencia Rago (Principal Scientist, NIBR), Amy Rabideau (Associate Director, Moderna), and Elizabeth Paik (Associate Director, Vor Biopharma) will share their diverse set of experiences in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries. https://mit.zoom.us/j/93978441054 password: MITBiology
Wednesday, January 6th, 2:00-3:30PM EST the series Skills in Science launches with “Delivering an Engaging Scientific Presentation," hosted by Jimmy Ly. Britt Glaunsinger (University of California, Berkeley) will share tips and tricks for giving a clear and engaging scientific presentation, which she has developed as part of a course on the topic. https://mit.zoom.us/j/91202541122 password: MITBiology
I also want to give a heads-up that our faculty searches this year are finalizing lists of candidates to invite for interviews. There will be some terrific candidates visiting (virtually) and I hope everyone can attend the seminars. Announcements (and reminders) will be sent when we have final schedules.
Wishing everyone a Happy Healthy New Year!
Alan
