Dear Colleagues,
Below are the details for connecting to the Faculty Meeting tomorrow. Here are a few important tips:
(1) You will be muted when you enter the meeting. If you are not speaking, please keep your microphone on mute. Please also turn off any audible alerts (e.g., new email message).
(2) Instead of using the chat feature to get the host’s attention when you want to speak, click “Participants” in the menu at the bottom of the Zoom screen and then “Raise Hand.” As host, President Reif will see your “hand” and call on you as the discussion unfolds. You should then unmute your microphone and, as usual, please state your name and department.
(3) If at all possible, please connect using your browser rather than calling in (https://mit.zoom.us/j/758234889). The host does not have a way to know if someone calling in would like to speak. Also, Zoom identifies a caller by phone number rather than name, making it difficult to know who is on the line. **However, if you experience difficulties with the browser connection, please do call in (1-646-558-8656 or 1-669-900-6833; meeting ID is 758 234 889).
In addition, if any member of the Faculty knows of specific questions they would like to ask, please send them to facultychair-reply at mit.edu<mailto:facultychair-reply at mit.edu> by 12pm tomorrow (Weds 3/18).
Thank you for your patience as we work out this system that is new to many of us.
Rick
