Subject: internship position at Seattle Genetics
Hi,
I'm an alum of the micro program (entering year '09) and I've been working in research at a lovely biotech company in Seattle for the past year. I am hiring an intern this summer to work with me on developing some therapeutic antibody technology to help cure cancer. The project will likely involve bacterial work and so I thought of the microbiology program.
I am reaching out to see if anyone at MIT might be interested in the position. If a graduate student could take the summer off of thesis work to do some science in the most beautiful place on earth (the Pacific Northwest), that would work well. It would also be a great position for a graduating senior who's heading to grad school in the fall and might want a taste of research in industry before doing research in academia for 5-12 years. The environment here is very "academic" with research forums, journal clubs, lots of science hallway conversations, etc, and everything is so much more collaborative than I found academia to be.
I would appreciate it if you could please forward the following job posting to any undergraduate job opportunity lists as well as encourage them to get in touch with me directly at aderegt at seagen.com<mailto:aderegt at seagen.com> with any questions.
