To: Covid-19 Response Call List

Dear colleagues,

We are writing to share the Institute’s updated travel policy for students, faculty, staff, and post docs that we have discussed on our recent morning calls. You may read the policy - which is effective now and until further notice - in its entirety here <https://mit.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=88f983a0e3c2a43fb2a2eabd0&id=842cabd47d&e=961485badd>. The key points are as follows:

All MIT-related domestic and international travel for undergraduate students remains suspended and no exceptions will be granted;

All MIT-related domestic and international travel for graduate students remains suspended though exceptions for essential domestic and international travel may be granted;

All MIT-related domestic and international travel for administrative staff remains suspended though exceptions for essential domestic and international travel may be granted; and

All MIT-related domestic travel for faculty, research staff, and postdocs is strongly discouraged. All MIT-related international travel for this category of travelers remains suspended though exceptions for essential international travel may be granted.

The policy includes a link to the exception request form <https://mit.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=88f983a0e3c2a43fb2a2eabd0&id=8bdc4fe02c&e=961485badd> and describes the exception review and decision-making process. Please note that individuals seeking an exception must obtain the approval of their supervisor, PI, department head and/or advisor. The High-Risk Travel Committee will conduct a review and, depending on the category of traveler, make a recommendation to the relevant decision-makers.

If you have any questions about this policy, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your attention to this important matter and encourage you to share this policy within your respective units and organizations.

Sincerely,

Ian A. Waitz
