I'm the undergraduate representative on the MIT Open Access Task Force<https://libraries.mit.edu/open-access/>, and I'm organizing with the MIT Libraries an open access hackathon to promote the sharing of scholarly materials. Open access affects every academic discipline, so would you mind forwarding this to the undergraduate majors in your department, and any graduate students who might be interested? Thank you!

Dear students,

What will you do to unlock the knowledge that you may need tomorrow? Shape the research world that we may soon step into.

Come to OAHack, an open access hackathon organized by the MIT Libraries and the Open Access Task Force<https://libraries.mit.edu/open-access/>, to learn about the sharing of scholarly knowledge and materials! Or lend a hand to fight journal paywalls and other barriers to sharing publications, educational materials! Register for either day of the event, or both:

  * Friday April 6 Reception (5:30-9:30pm): talks about open access initiatives by Chris Bourg (Director, MIT Libraries), Peter Suber (Director, Harvard Office for Scholarly Communication), Jessica Polka (Director, ASAPbio) and other leaders in the open access movement!
  * Saturday April 7 Hackathon (9am-6pm): work on software, design, policy, business and other projects for open access alongside fellow contributors from MIT, Harvard, Northeastern, NYU, UMass Amherst, Brandeis and more institutions!

You're welcome to attend just the reception on Friday evening. To register for Friday and/or Saturday, go to: http://eventbrite.com/e/oahack-open-access-hackathon-tickets-43525985394
