Uber is to transportation as Airbnb is to hospitality, but what is the food and agriculture equivalent? Well, nothing … yet. Agriculture remains the only major industry that has not been disrupted by new approaches.

Good news – things are looking up. AgFunder reported a 29% growth rate in food and ag investment, to $10 billion, in 2017. And investment is happening upstream and downstream.

With this in mind, the Rabobank-MIT Food and Agribusiness Innovation Prize supports ideas along the entire value chain. Whether you have a solution to increasing crop yields or an idea to decrease household food waste, we want to hear from you!

Finalists will receive mentoring with an industry expert, and the first and second place winners will receive $20,000 and $10,000, respectively, in addition to mentorship and support from Rabobank, a global leader in food and agriculture financing and sustainability-oriented banking.

Eligibility

  *   Plans must involve a new or innovative product, service, or process for, or directly related to, food and agribusiness
  *   Teams must comprise of two or more full time college, university, or graduate students
  *   At least one team member must be available to participate in the final pitch showcase in Cambridge, MA on the evening of May 1, 2019
  *   Applications are due on December 21, 2018 at 11:59 pm EST
