22.055 Radiation Biophysics (Undergraduate)
22.55/HST.560 (Graduate)
Schedule: WF 9-10:30am
Location: MGH ROOM FND 244B RRB
(Founders Building, 2nd Floor, Robbins Conference Room B)

This course will describe various sources of radiation, how they are used, and the affect they have on humans. We will discuss how radiation is created and measured, and how one evaluates it biological effects based on radiation type, dose and dose-rate. Effects at the molecular, cellular, organism, and population level will be examined. The course will include field trips to radiology and radiation oncology departments. The course will also discuss how various regulatory bodies regulate the use of ionizing radiation in the face of gaps in our understanding of the health effects of radiation.
