Subject: research technician ad posting
We are seeking outstanding candidates for a research technician position in the lab of Richard Sherwood (http://sherwoodlab.bwh.harvard.edu/) in the Division of Genetics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Our lab uses advanced CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and genomic screening techniques to understand how transcription factors dictate cell fate. Our eventual goal is to build computationally predictive models of cell differentiation that would enable us to turn stem cells into therapeutically relevant cell types including pancreatic beta cells and intestinal cell types. We have invented several high-throughput genome editing assays that we are now applying to this goal, and we collaborate closely with David Gifford’s computational lab at MIT to build computational algorithms that predict stem cell activity.
The research technician position would involve stem cell culture, genome editing, genomic analysis, and molecular biology. A strong biology background and prior lab experience are required but not necessarily in the techniques mentioned above. Previously trained technicians have co-authored journal articles and moved on to MD/PhD programs, so we are looking for someone who could commit 2 years to an exciting research position to prepare them for graduate/medical school. To apply, send a cover letter, CV, and names and contact information for two references to rsherwood at partners.org<mailto:rsherwood at partners.org>.
