Hello Prehealth Students,

MIT Prehealth Advising is pleased to announce the launch of the 2018 MIT Physician Shadow Program.

Please read ALL of the information below and follow all of the directions before you email phshadow at mit.edu with any questions.  You'll notice that we are using a Google Form and Google Drive to facilitate a smooth sign-up process for the program.

Requirements for Participation:


1)      You must be a current MIT undergraduate student.


2)      You must meet the MIT Health Requirements<https://medical.mit.edu/sites/default/files/medreport.pdf>.

We will be verifying your immunizations with MIT Medical in addition to the documentation you must provide as part of the sign-up process.  More instructions about immunizations are provided in the Google Form below.

Overview:


·      The Shadow program is for current MIT undergraduate students seeking the opportunity to see first-hand what a typical day is like for a physician.


·      The shadow opportunities are 1 half-day or 1 full-day in length.  Duration, date, and time will be determined by the student and the physician.


·      Physicians' schedules vary, so you should be very flexible and accommodate your physician's availability.


·      All shadowing opportunities are expected to be completed between February and May 2018.

        Read all of the instructions and follow them carefully.


2)      Once you've filled out the Participation Form<https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pMyQgL4UxB1rW8_hbHP-E20yIgu7x5Uur7rkbU0Lb0E>, download and complete the required forms for the hospital you selected which can be found on the attached document.  The attacment includes links to each hospital's online folder - click the links to access the required forms.

        Instructions for what specific documents are required for shadowing at MGH, Boston Children's Hospital, and Tufts are also in the attachment and included in Step 1 of the Participation Form.

3)   Email all required documents (JPEG or scanned) to phshadow at mit.edu by Wednesday, January 31st.

NOTE: If you do not submit your required documents by Wednesday, January 31st, you will not be granted a shadowing opportunity.

NOTE: A signature is required on certain forms.  Only a handwritten signature (not a typed one) will be accepted.


The MIT Physician Shadow Program will email you in early February to provide you with more instructions about your physician assignment and how to get in touch with your physician about setting your shadowing opportunity.
