Brastianos Laboratory, Massachusetts General Hospital – Boston, MA

 JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is seeking an entry-level research opportunity – a two year appointment - with an emphasis on training and the acquisition of knowledge and skills. This person will join our highly collaborative and fast-paced team within the Brastianos Lab of Central Nervous System Metastasis Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Carter Lab at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute / Broad institute. We use computational biology, cancer genomics, and molecular biology to understand genetic determinants of brain metastasis and facilitate therapeutic development. The candidate will support our molecular experiments for functional characterization of findings from our genomic studies.

 In this position:

- You can make a difference in brain metastasis research -- 300,000 cancer patients a year in the U.S. develop brain metastases. We are committed to improving these patients' outcome and quality of life.

- You will gain invaluable experience -- This unique research opportunity will give you access to the best technologies and sharpest minds that biomedical research has to offer.

- You will be an integral member of a fun and collaborative team – In our lab, everyone is considered a critical member of the team. From research that happens in the lab to social activities outside of lab, everyone collaborates closely and has fun at the same time.

- You will work closely with academic trainees to design and execute bench-level experiments; present your work at lab meetings; and contribute directly to research publications. Our goal is to foster a love for research and equip the individual with the experience and skills needed to pursue future career interests.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS, preferably in a life science, bioengineering, or related field. The incumbent should have an interest in genetics, translational research, and tumor biology with laboratory experience in standard techniques including cell culture, PCR, western blots, and preferably experience with next generation sequencing technologies.
