Subject: Oct. 28: Visit Day for the PhD program in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology and Society
****************************************
MIT Doctoral Program in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology and Society (HASTS)
Prospective Student Visit Day
Monday, October 28, 2013
9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Register by: Monday, October 21
The Program in HASTS trains scholars to study science and technology as activities situated in social and cultural contexts. Students do their research in a wide variety of areas such as history of medicine, anthropology of sustainability, scientific visualization, environmental history, and anthropology of life sciences. Some recent dissertations have focused on the history of U.S. food labeling policies, social study of outer space, artifacts in technology, and the training and identity of pilots in Japan and the US.
The visit day gives prospective students a chance to get a better understanding of what our program offers in terms of research and resources, and to help them decide if our program may be a good fit for them. The registration form (due Oct. 21) and agenda are posted at http://web.mit.edu/hasts/admissions/visit.html .
If you think you might apply this year, or even a few years from now, you're welcome to visit us on the 28th!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Karen
