BIOLOGY COLLOQUIUM
SCHMITT LECTURE
Monday, April 3, 2006
Dr. Liqun Luo
Stanford University
"Genetic Analysis of Neuronal Circuit Assembly"
32-123 Stata Center Auditorium
4pm (refreshments at 3:30)
Hosted by Dr. Frank Gertler

The Schmitt Lecture is dedicated to the late
Francis O. Schmitt, who was Head of the
Department of Biology here at MIT from 1942-1955.

Dr. Luo seeks to understand how neural circuits
assemble during development and contribute to
sensory perception. He has developed the Mosaic
Analysis with a Repressible Cell Marker (MARCM)
technique to track neurons in the fruit fly brain
and is perfecting a similar system for studying
mice.

Dr. Liqun Luo is a Professor of Biological
Sciences at Stanford University, he received his
Ph.D. from Brandeis University in 1992.
