Hello everyone,

Next week PLS is excited to host (in person!) Professor Gerrit Budde from Brown University. Gerrit will present an isotopic perspective on the early evolution of the solar system. See below for the abstract and additional information.

Gerrit will be available for meetings during his visit Tuesday afternoon. To meet with Gerrit, please use this signup sheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PG2UrEr8etvOH3jk6N_dj9d0bsRjVGBZGGf57OVJcco/edit?usp=sharing>.

For those attending in person, please complete this simple RSVP form<https://forms.gle/EgwJsgfdHKGXFRbJ6> by 1 PM on Monday so we can accurately gauge lunch demand. (Thanks to those who did this last week!) Also note we will be in 54-517 this week and going forward.

Title: Early evolution of the Solar System: An isotopic perspective

Abstract: Nucleosynthetic (mass-independent) isotope anomalies in meteorites are a uniquely powerful tool in cosmochemical research. For instance, they revealed a fundamental dichotomy in the genetic make-up of inner (non-carbonaceous) and outer (carbonaceous) Solar System materials, which fundamentally influenced our understanding of the early evolution of the Solar System. In this talk, I will discuss the origin of such anomalies and their implications for the origin, processing and transport of material in the protoplanetary disk as well as for the processes of planetesimal/planet formation and migration.
