Dear Student Group Officers,

Please take note of the following announcements:

1. Bulletin Board Reassignments
2. Advertising: Postering and Chalking Policy

---------------------------------------------------------------

1. Bulletin Board Reassignments

The construction along the Infinite corridor is finishing and we have reassigned
groups' private bulletin board spaces. If you have a private bulletin board
please review the information at
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/bulletin-board-alloc.html. That page
includes the new board assignments, maps and board
divisions, and a document detailing the responsibilities of groups with bulletin
boards.

You MUST have a display up that meets the following responsibilities NO LATER
THAN September 19:
 * Cover your entire space - if it is not in a covered case, you must use
background paper or large poster(s) to cover the entire space.
 * Include your group name and contact information
 * Include information about your group's activities or issues
 * Keep your board updated
 * Maintain the condition of your poster materials
 * Remove other posters from your space. Facilities has been instructed not to
deposter private boards even if they look like they have public postering on
them. You must remove and save the offending posters and then notify ASA Exec
 * Notify ASA Exec of any vandalism
 * Do not attach anything permanent or protruding to your board without getting
permission from ASA Exec

We'd like to take advantage of the Infinite remodeling as a chance to maintain
the standards of the private bulletin boards. Previously many bulletin boards
fell into disrepair and ended up being used as public postering space; if we all
take good care of our boards we can prevent that. Please review the
responsibilities document for more details:
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/boards-responsibilities.html

Because many groups have requested bulletin boards, and space is limited, we
will be reallocating space of groups that are not meeting their
responsibilities
if necessary.

If you do not have a board and you would like one, please fill out the
application and we will put you on a waitlist. The application is at
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/bulletin-board-app.html

---------------------------------------------------------------

2. Advertising: Postering and Chalking Policy

Please review the advertising policies and guidelines at
http://mit.edu/asa/publicity/public-advertising-space.html. They are mostly
with regards to postering,
but please also pay particular attention to the restrictions on chalking. Chalk
advertisements may be put on sidewalks, but they are NOT allowed on vertical
surfaces including the sides of buildings or the stairs to Lobby 7 and the
Student Center. Violations of the chalking policy may receive sanctions from
ASA and
groups may also be charged by CAC or Facilities for cleanup costs.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Please feel free to email asa-exec at mit.edu with any requests, questions, or
other inquiries.

Sincerely,
The ASA Executive Board
