Dear Student Groups,

The fall cycle of LEF/ARCADE funding is upon us! The next deadline is *October
1, 2008*, for events occurring between October and December, inclusive. The
application is available online:
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/large-events.html, under "Application
Procedures."

The LEF/ARCADE website is newly updated. In particular, please pay close
attention to the Application Procedures section (
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/large-events.html#application) and the
2008-2009 dates (http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/large-events.html#dates).
Please follow all application procedures to ensure that your application is
considered.

Several key LEF/ARCADE changes, and website additions, are worth pointing
out:

1) Organizers of events with invited speakers and/or performers must meet
with SAO staff BEFORE submitting an application.
2) Allocated funds are now transferred AFTER the event, pending an
acceptable post-event report.
3) Site update: Tips and guidelines for applications are now available (link
under Application Procedures).
4) Site update: A sample application, with sample budget, is now available.
5) Site update: The application form has been updated. If you have an old
copy saved from a previous funding cycle, please re-download from the
website.

If you plan to apply this cycle for an event with an invited
speaker/performer, you should contact the SAO as soon as possible to set up
your pre-application meeting. Contact Paul Spangle (pspangle at mit.edu) for
LEF events and Alicia Erwin (aeerwin at mit.edu) for ARCADE events. General
questions? Contact asa-treasurer at mit.edu.
