Hey Student Group Officers!

After its success last year, we have decided to host the "Boston T
Party", one of the major events of Orientation, once again. This
event on Stata's Student Street will take place on the evening of
Tuesday, August 28th. It will be a great chance to interact with the
class of 2011 and to show them how diverse and unique the MIT
community truly is.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, here's a brief description.
The purpose of the T Party is to orient the incoming class to
important areas in the Boston metro by simulating the areas in the
Stata Center. Similar groups are clustered at different "T Stops"
that are related to their purposes. At those stops, the groups will
host a relevant activity (For example, last year we had Medlinks at
Longwood Medical Center playing Operation games, and the LSC showed a
few films and gave out popcorn at Boylston). The end result is a
pretty cool Boston/Cambridge away from Boston/Cambridge that is fun
for all freshmen and participants alike.

Interested? Awesome. We're trying to structure this a little better
than last year, so please keep the following in mind as you "apply."

1. This is NOT the activities midway! The purpose of this event is to
entertain the freshmen, not to recruit for your group. In compliance
with ASA rules, you are not permitted to sign up students at this
event; you must wait until the Midway.

2. Some groups may already know what T stops they'd fit well in. If
you have an idea, feel free to let us know. But at the end of the day
we reserve the right for final placement.

3. Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Since Stata is only so big, we may not be able to accept everyone if
interest is high.

So, here is what we need from you by August 5th. E-mail
tparty2007 at mit.edu to let us know if your group is interested in
having a presence at the event. If so, please include:

- The name and purpose of your organization;
- The name of a contact person who can coordinate with us;
- If applicable, a T stop that you would think would work well with
your group;
- Your concept for an activity that would showcase your organization,
be relevant to the theme of a stop, and hopefully be fun;
- Whether your group will need help in funding your activity (for
supplies, decorations, music, etc...). We MAY have money set aside to
help support you at the event; and
- Whether you will need any Early Returns
Feel free to send a message to tparty2007 at mit.edu if you have any
other questions. Thanks for your help, and we hope to hear from you
soon!

Best,
Akil J. Middleton, UA Chairman of Orientation
Martin Holmes, UA President
James Peacock, ASA President
