We are seeking talented technical students pursuing bachelor's, master's and PhD
degrees to intern on our VM Distributed Resource Management team.
Engineers interested in systems software, and distributed systems get to design
and implement novel design techniques and algorithms for managing both virtual
and real computer hardware. They work on harnessing the power of highly
sophisticated computers and storage hardware.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns on this team are responsible for core development in an enterprise-class
environment.
Distributed Resource Scheduler manages a set of hosts and provides services such
as load-balancing of VMs (by both making initial placement decisions and live
migration decisions) and enforcing user-specified quality-of-service controls.
This includes design, implementation and testing.
REQUIREMENTS:
*Strong experience with C programming, algorithms and system architecture.
*Must have Linux and Windows experience
* Very strong analytical and debugging skills
*A passion for writing high-quality, well architected and well-documented code
in C
*Excellent communication skills
*Excellent understanding of how to use various algorithms to write optimized
code

DESCRIPTION:
We are building a scalable virtual infrastructure management framework that
aggregates a large set of compute, storage and network resources in a
datacenter. Our goal is to enable the efficiency, flexibility and automation in
enterprise datacenter management with virtual Datacenter OS. We have openings in
distributed system development with projects in improving the scalability and
performance of this system. We also have openings in creating new, higher level
abstractions on top of hardware resources in a datacenter that allows virtual
machines to be managed independently from the physical resources they are
currently using.
REQUIREMENTS:
Distributed systems, multi-threaded programming and networking knowledge
Familiarity with OS fundamentals
Good programming skills in C/C++ (though for a strong candidate, I'm okay if
Java or another high level object oriented language is their main forte)
Knowledge of database programming is a bonus but not required
