For those of you who are planning on doing research this summer:
Every year around this time I encourage students to apply to REU programs 
across the country (and abroad)

So over winter break, make it your mission to look through all of the gazillion 
REU opportunities listed at:
http://www.nsf.gov/crssprgm/reu/reu_search.cfm
And don't just look at the Physics options. There are lots of closely related 
fields.
