Mailing list for the group reading the Homotopy Type Theory book (http://homotopytypetheory.org/book/). The HoTT reading group meets Mondays 3pm-4pm in E18-466a (http://whereis.mit.edu/?q=E18-466A). The first meeting will be Monday, January 6. Please read the introduction before then, and bring a (physical or digital) copy of the book with you. Suggested background for the reading group: The homotopy type theory book seems to be aimed at an audience with some familiarity with set theory, homotopy theory, and category theory. However, each of these is given a brief introduction and explanation in the relevant chapter, so extensive experience is (probably) not required. Personally, I'm a first year graduate student at MIT, and I've had one semester of algebraic topology, and have been working with formalizing basic category theory on top of homotopy type theory in the proof assistant Coq; I'm interested in learning more about the theoretical underpinnings as well as other applications.
