Today is Good Friday. As a reminder, Catholics over 14 years of age are bound to the obligation of abstinence. On days of abstinence, meat may not be used at all.

Fast -- Catholics over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to the obligation of fasting on Good Friday. Only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed.

The Church excuses certain people from these obligations. Examples include those who are frail, pregnant, or manual laborers.

Blessings and peace,

Fr Michael

“Jesus loves you always, even when you don’t feel worthy.
When not accepted by others, even by yourself sometimes,
He is the one who always accepts you. Only believe, you are precious to Him.
Bring all you are suffering to His feet, only open your heart to be loved by Him as you are.
He will do the rest.” Saint Mother Teresa
