Tech Catholic Talk on Discernment: How to think about your vocation: Vocations to priesthood, religious life, and even to married life are in a crisis, in part caused by bad recent theology and pastoral practice regarding how to “discern”. On Monday, Feb. 24, in the Main Dining Room of W11 after Mass (8:15 pm), Fr. Moloney will talk about the theology of vocation, and examine how we try to figure out to which state of life God is calling us (and how we can do it better). Pizza will be served.

Melchizedek Group for Priestly Vocations: Fr. Moloney will lead a discussion group about the nature of the priestly vocation and how to discern if God is calling you to the “order of Melchizedek” (Heb. 5:6, 7:17) using the book A Living Sacrifice. We meet on Thursdays 5-6 PM. To attend doesn’t mean that you are thinking about entering the seminary, or even that you’re not dating. It can simply mean that you’re interested in supporting others think about the priesthood. Contact dmoloney at mit.edu if interested. Books are available from Father's office in W11.

Thomistic Institute Lecture: The Dark Night of St. Teresa of Calcutta and St. Thérèse of Lisieux: In “the dark night of the soul,” people who have been especially blessed with consolations in prayer suddenly find that God has withdrawn the good feelings from them, as a kind of test or trial. Why does God do this? On Thursday, March 5, at 5:30 PM in 4-237, Prof. Carol Zaleski of the Religious Studies Department at Smith College will give a lecture addressing this question by looking at the prayer experiences of two namesake saints, Mother Teresa of Calcutta and St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
