Non-TCC Events (Catholic and Interdenominational)

- The Ramadan Fast-a-thon - Get Hungry for Change
In the Islamic month of Ramadan, Muslims fast during daylight hours as
an act of submission, solidarity, and remembrance. One of the main
reasons for fasting is to call attention to those who go hungry every
day, not as an exercise of religious expression, but as a fact of life.
To respond to this deplorable situation, the MIT Muslim Student
Association (MSA) has organized a Ramadan Fast-a-thon, an event that
hopes to raise up to $3,000 in a single day for Mercy Corps and the
Greater Boston Food Bank. For every MIT student/faculty who fasts during
the daylight hours of October 12, local businesses have committed to
making donations on their behalf to local charities. Students can email
fast-a-thon at mit.edu with subject line “I pledge” or sign pledge forms at
the Da’wah (information) table in the student center available every
Thursday. On October 12th, we will abstain from food and drink during
the daylight hours. At the end of the day, participants are invited to a
free dinner in Lobdell at 6pm to break their fast. (If you begin to feel
sick, you may drink water during the day.) If you would like to donate
and help sponsor the students and staff who fast, you can use the link
